8 Months Old

Owen,
Most moms think their kids grow up too fast and I’m no exception. But when you turned eight months I found myself wondering how in the world it has only been eight months. Because you are so much a part of my life and world and heart . . . and it seems like you always have been.

Here’s who you are at eight months:
-       -You are eating 6-7 ounce bottles now.
-       -You eat baby food like a pro. Some of your favorites are: Sweet potatoes, Apples, Bananas, and Blueberries.
-       -You are almost sitting up on your own now. I think your record is about 30 seconds. We need to work on this.
-       -You have absolutely no interest in crawling. You can roll to your back so fast that there is no keeping you in the tummy time position.
-       -You will stand if we hold your hands.
-       -You can push yourself backwards in your walker, but not forward.
-       -You now laugh out loud all the time.
-       -Despite my protest, you say “dada” all the time. Lets work on “mama”, ok?
-       -You reach for people to hold you.
-       -You love toys, but your Sophie the Giraffe is your favorite.
-       -You still LOVE to jump.
-       -You are now wearing 9-month outfits and are in Size 3 diapers.
-       -You have a very consistent schedule these days. Naps are around 9 am, 12pm, and 4 pm. (Sleeping 45 minutes – 1 hour each time)
**And finally, Ladies and Gentlemen, I have saved the BEST for last**

-       -YOU SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT! I put you down anywhere from 8-9pm and you wake up around 6am.

8 Month Stats:
Weight: 15.8 pounds  16 pounds
Length: 25 inches  26 1/2 inches

Eight months. In just eight months, I've experienced what seems like a lifetime of emotions. I get to care for, nurture and love you every day and that has brought me more joy than I know what to do with. I honestly don't know how I got so blessed. I know what I have is a gift and I pray that I never take it for granted. I love being a mom. I love being YOUR mom. And I love you, Owen Harris Maynord, so very, very much.

Love,
Your Mommy

A beautiful wedding...

A beautiful wedding took place on this day three years ago. I still think back to that wonderful March day in 2009 and smile. Everything was perfect, and while we have our ups and downs, I would say we made a good choice. I love you more everyday!

St. Patrick's Day, Pt. 2

Here is our 2nd St. Patrick's Day outfit. I absolutely adore this one.

I think to myself, if I keep buying these over the top adorable outfits, will I ever be able to let go of them? See recently I started pricing Owen's clothes for a consignment sale. However, I found myself attached to almost every outfit he has. "Oh he has a picture in this one!" "He wore this the day he went to daycare for the first time!" Etc. Etc. Etc.... I cried, I pondered, I reminisced.

Out of 92 outfits I could part with 80. And believe you me, it was torture. "But what if you have another baby?" Well, that won't be for a few years. Plus, Brandon, who tried to help me through this anxiety said, "If we do have another child ONE DAY, who is to say it will be a boy? Also, won't you want to go out and buy new outfits?" Yes, and that is that. Out with the old, in with the new.

I kept outfits that really meant something to us: His first Christmas outfit, the sweater he wore in our family photo shoot, the onesie we brought him home from the hospital in, and some others.

This might be a silly thing to be worked up over, but I look at my precious boy everyday and think about how he changes from the time I lay him down at night to picking him up the next morning. People always say, "Enjoy this time because it goes too fast." They are right. It feels like just yesterday I was excited about maternity clothes and now here I am letting go of Owen's 6-month outfits. Wow. I guess I need to go shopping for more to make myself feel better!

My Perfect Baby

So I am going to toot Owen's horn for just a few moments...I took him around the world on Saturday. We left the house at 8am and drove to Franklin (1 hr 45 min) to go to a children's consignment sale. *side note- yes I will travel far and wide to find a good deal*

Owen slept the entire way. He never made a peep. Once we arrived at the sale he woke up and rode in his stroller up and down the isles with a huge smile on his face-not tears or objections whatsoever.
After the consignment sale we went to Babies "R" Us. (our FAVORITE store) Once again, Owen was beyond pleasant as he sat in the cart for over an hour.

We ate lunch and then traveled to a baby shower in Brentwood around 1:30. We stayed at the shower until 5pm. All the while, the ladies passed Owen around to soak up his cuteness. He played and watched while we visited and talked. He napped in my arms for an hour. He was all smiles and giggles the entire time.
he was the hit of the party

taking a nap in my arms

Some of the ladies at the shower

Around 6pm we went to J.Alexanders in Cool Springs where we had to wait over an hour for a table. Owen sat in his car seat and played with his toys.
Here we are at J.Alexanders

We left dinner around 8pm and started on the almost 2 hour drive home. Owen fell asleep in the car. We made it home at 10pm. I picked him up and put him in his crib and he did not wake up until the next morning.
Basically he was the PERFECT child all day and I was so proud. Everyone commented on how good he was the entire time. Thats my boy!

Of course I slipped in a small photo shoot at the baby shower. He was so stink in' cute!

Top of the Morning to Ya!

Straight out of his crib this morning. Paci still in tow.

While he HATES tummy time, I had to get a shot of the cute little clover on his hiney.
I think Owen will probably skip crawling all together. He does not like tummy time, but he is already pulling up to standing by himself! He was sitting next to me on the couch yesterday. He reached over, held onto my shoulder and pulled himself up all by himself. It would not surprise me if he just went straight to walking. Here he is standing on the couch.

 My little Leprechaun!
Can I eat your camera, PLEASE?

With all of the toys we have in this house, Owen picks his suction bulb to chew on.
Whatever makes him happy I suppose.

We have one more St. Patrick's Day outfit. I will do another photo shoot before March 17th.
