8 Months Old

Owen,
Most moms think their kids grow up too fast and I’m no exception. But when you turned eight months I found myself wondering how in the world it has only been eight months. Because you are so much a part of my life and world and heart . . . and it seems like you always have been.

Here’s who you are at eight months:
-       -You are eating 6-7 ounce bottles now.
-       -You eat baby food like a pro. Some of your favorites are: Sweet potatoes, Apples, Bananas, and Blueberries.
-       -You are almost sitting up on your own now. I think your record is about 30 seconds. We need to work on this.
-       -You have absolutely no interest in crawling. You can roll to your back so fast that there is no keeping you in the tummy time position.
-       -You will stand if we hold your hands.
-       -You can push yourself backwards in your walker, but not forward.
-       -You now laugh out loud all the time.
-       -Despite my protest, you say “dada” all the time. Lets work on “mama”, ok?
-       -You reach for people to hold you.
-       -You love toys, but your Sophie the Giraffe is your favorite.
-       -You still LOVE to jump.
-       -You are now wearing 9-month outfits and are in Size 3 diapers.
-       -You have a very consistent schedule these days. Naps are around 9 am, 12pm, and 4 pm. (Sleeping 45 minutes – 1 hour each time)
**And finally, Ladies and Gentlemen, I have saved the BEST for last**

-       -YOU SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT! I put you down anywhere from 8-9pm and you wake up around 6am.

8 Month Stats:
Weight: 15.8 pounds  16 pounds
Length: 25 inches  26 1/2 inches

Eight months. In just eight months, I've experienced what seems like a lifetime of emotions. I get to care for, nurture and love you every day and that has brought me more joy than I know what to do with. I honestly don't know how I got so blessed. I know what I have is a gift and I pray that I never take it for granted. I love being a mom. I love being YOUR mom. And I love you, Owen Harris Maynord, so very, very much.

Love,
Your Mommy
